Meeting a deadline!

3 hours?  I've spent more than 3 hours on this class-project!

I picked Blogger as my social media resource.  Finally.  I already had an account from posting on the MCMLA 2010 blog.  My daughters and their friends are blogging on Blogger.

Then I got stuck on naming this new blog :-(   I had a lot of great ideas -- that were already taken.  And then I searched to see what librarian/library blogs are out there already.  So many.

Then I processed -- for a long time -- what is my niche?  What is my purpose and presence as a librarian in the blogging world ... for the rest of my life....  Do I really want to be Cool Creative Librarian?  For the rest of my life?

Then I found out I can delete this blog after the assignment!  Hooray!!! Get the assignment done!

Why not Facebook?  My hospital has a FB plan that is focused in one spot which is marketing.  I can try to add postings via connections with marketing department.

Why not Twitter or Facebook -- my patrons are physicians and hospital staff.  Social network sites are restricted. Staff must leave their cell phones in their lockers at work.  I can see these social media being useful in creating social networks with public library and university library patrons .... but not at my hospital.  I'm creating social networks face-to-face every day -- in the hallways, cafeteria, at CME lectures.

Yes, I intend to delete this blog when this class is done.  That will free up "Cool Creative Librarian" for someone else!  It will also give me more time to lay out my strategy for creating a social network on behalf of my library or for my librarian-self.
